EL JUEGO ONLINE EN ESPAÑA 2025
The spring is coming, Indian Wells in being played and the DGOJ has just released the previous full year’s stats as usual.
The GGR, after a horrible year post pandemic, continues its positive trend with a 17% YoY increase reaching the new highest amount of 1,700M€.

The number of active players has also increased a 8,33% reaching the 2,157,514 players.
Please note that a single player may have more than one active account if they are registered in different operators (and using those accounts). The amount of total active accounts has also increased to 4,322,688.
With this data we can estimate the following:
- The value of the Spanish online player has increased from 730€ in 2024 to 788€ in 2025 (a 7.99% YoY) (Total GGR / Total Active Players)
- The average of nºof active accounts for one single player has also increased from 1.92 in 2024 to 2.00 in 2025 (Active Accounts /Active Players)

The marketing expenses are also going high, sign of a very competitive market.
The CRM activity is becoming more key for a market with many operators trying to keep their customers playing with them. The bonus cost is the 52% of the total marketing investment (49% in 2024) (347M€ vs 261M€)
That means that, in average for an active account, each operator has spent 80,32€ in bonus in 2025 (68,40€ in 2024). If we check the GGR/Active value from 2025 and 2024 the increase has been of 13€ and the bonus cost 12€ so only 1€ net increase.
The advertising has registered also an interesting increase of 19.43% YoY from 204M€ in 2024 to 244M€ in 2025.
If we check the main KPI in terms of ROI, we can see that the industry is spending the 39% of the GGR in Marketing, so less margin than last year being 36,31% in 2024.
So every operator that wants to operate in the Spanish market knows how much marketing budget should invest according to their GGR goals.

Casino rules, it represents the 52% of the total GGR.
And specially slots, being a 69% of the total Casino GGR. All these slot games are in a “sweet moment” with a 30,78% increase YoY.
The other main product in casino are the live roulettes, being a 25,75% of the total Casino incomes.
Please note that other live games are not allowed in Spain at the moment, which can make that some players could go to illegal .com websites to play those games.
The case of the Blackjack is quite weird as the game is allowed in a RNG format (like Roulette) but not in live format.
